Zain Bahrain, a leading Bahraini provider of innovative technologies and digital lifestyle experience, said it has successfully deployed Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities within its live 5G radio network in partnership with Ericsson, becoming the first operator in the region to achieve this milestone.

The deployment marks a significant step forward in Zain Bahrain's continued commitment to smart innovation and its ambition to support the kingdom's digital transformation through advanced, AI-enabled telecommunications solutions, said Zain Bahrain in a statement.

It also reflects the company's broader AI strategy, which focuses on embedding artificial intelligence across its operations, network capabilities, and customer service to deliver smarter and more efficient digital experiences.

While the deployment of AI within the radio network represents a significant milestone, Zain Bahrain views it as the beginning of a wider transformation journey toward more intelligent, adaptive, and future-ready networks.

This achievement also supports Zain Group's 4WARD - Progress with Purpose strategy, which focuses on harnessing technology to create meaningful impact, enhance digital experiences, and enable a more connected future, it added.

The milestone follows the successful evaluation of Ericsson's AI-native Scheduler for Link Adaptation solution on Zain Bahrain's live network. In simple terms, the technology allows the network to make smarter, real-time decisions based on changing demand and usage patterns, helping improve overall performance and efficiency.

Ali Isa Al Yaham, Zain Bahrain Chief Technology Officer, said: "At Zain Bahrain, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. Becoming the first operator in the region to successfully deploy and validate AI capabilities in a live radio network marks a major milestone in our journey to build the networks of the future."

"This achievement goes beyond introducing new technology; it is about delivering real benefits to our customers through faster, smarter, and more reliable connectivity," noted Al Yaham.

"It also aligns with Zain Bahrain's broader strategic direction to advance Bahrain's national digital transformation, support Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, and accelerate the company's evolution from a traditional telecommunications operator to a leading technology solutions provider," said the top official.

"As Bahrain's leading technology operator, we remain committed to investing in innovation that enhances the everyday digital experiences of our customers while supporting the Kingdom's digital ambitions," he added.

Building on the success of this deployment, Zain Bahrain is actively exploring additional AI-driven use cases across network operations and customer operations to create a smarter, more efficient and future-ready telecommunications ecosystem that continues to evolve alongside customer needs and technological advancements.

"For customers, this means a smoother, faster, and more resilient mobile experience, especially when using data-heavy services such as video streaming, online gaming, video conferencing, social media and cloud applications," he stated.

"The deployment has also delivered measurable improvements in network speed and efficiency, demonstrating the value of AI in making mobile connectivity smarter and more responsive and future-ready," he added.
