The MSX index closed at 7,832.25 points, up by 0.05% from previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.39% at 640.75 points. Muscat Insurance, up 9.90%, was the top gainer while Phoenix Power, down 9.97%, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar International Bank were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 9,808 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR82.46 million, with more than 273.99 million shares changing hands. Out of 70 traded securities, 25 advanced, 11 declined, and 34 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR1,353,000K while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR1,290,000, followed by domestic investors for OMR62,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 14,017.48 points, up 0.14%. Prices of Muscat Insurance, Oman & Emirates Investment, Muscat Finance, Bank Dhofar, and Oman Qatar Insurance were up by 9.90%, 4.17%, 1.52%, 1.36%, and 1.12% respectively. Prices of Oman Arab Bank, Takaful Oman, Al Sharqia Investment, National Finance, and Oman United Insurance were down by 8.36%, 3.28%, 0.97%, 0.93%, and 0.61% respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 10,218.41 points, up 0.44%. Prices of Salalah Mills, Oman Fisheries, Gulf Mushroom Products, and Oman Cables Industry were up by 4.71%, 4.55%, 3.03%, and 0.29% respectively. Prices of OMIFCO and Al Anwar Ceramics were down by 1.68%, and 0.61% respectively.
Services Index was down by -0.55% before closing at 3,118.70 points. Prices of Barka Desalination, Muscat Desalination, SMN Power Holding, SMN Power Holding, and Abraj Energy were up by 3.73%, 2.15%, 1.09%, 1.09%, and 0.94% respectively. Prices of Phoenix Power shares were down by 9.97%.
