Activities

Petro Rabigh was established in 2005 as a joint venture between two heavyweights: Saudi Aramco (the giant Saudi Arabian oil company) and Sumitomo Chemical (a major Japanese chemical company). This collaboration brought together expertise from both sides, creating a powerful force in the refining and petrochemical industry. Petro Rabigh is engaged in the development, construction and operation of an integrated refining and petrochemical complex, including the manufacturing and sales of refined and petrochemical products. Imagine a place where crude oil gets transformed into a wide array of useful products-everything from plastics and detergents to lubricants, resins, and even auto interiors. Their products includes polymer, monomer, fuel, gas oil, gasoline, kerosene, light naphtha, and liquefied petroleum gas. The Petro Rabigh plant is no small operation. Valued at around SAR 16.71 billion, it originally churned out 18.4 million tons per annum of petroleum-based products and 2.4 million tons per annum of ethylene and propylene-based derivatives. Petro Rabigh II, an expansion project, came into play. Valued at a whopping US $9 billion, it reached full production by the fourth quarter of 2017. This expansion brought forth new high-value products, some of which are exclusive to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. Petro Rabigh isn't just about pipes, tanks, and chemical reactions. They're also fostering economic and technological development in line with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. This vision aims to create a vibrant society, a thriving economy, and an ambitious nation. Petro Rabigh industrial complex (also known as Rabigh PlusTech Park) is where downstream industries get creative. It's like a playground for polymer compounding and other chemical wizardry.
