Al-Ahsa Development Company was founded on 1st October 1993,and is a public shareholding company that operates in diverse business segments, including industrial, real estate, tourism, health, education, textile, food processing and agriculture. Headquartered in Al-Ahsa, it is primarily engaged in investment activities in industrial and services sectors. Al-Ahsa is responsible for the development of industrial projects, investment and ownership of real estate, fuel stations, maintenance work, transportation fleets, construction of cold stores, and management of and operation of residential, commercial, and industrial zones. It is also involved in gypsum mining activities. The investments portfolio for the company includes the Saudi Japanese Textile Company, which produces woven textiles; Al-Ahsa Medical Service Co., which operates Al-Ahsa Hospital; and Al-Ahsa Recreation and Tourism, which is involved in tourism and recreational projects.The company aims to invest in the establishing of new industries based on modern methods of ownership or collaboration with international companies. It also provides support and consultancy services to factories and companies that are set up by Al-Ahsa Development Co. It takes an active role in promoting industrial development and encourages import substitution and the global marketing of its products.
