United Wire Factories Company, also known as ASLAK (based on the Arabic word which means 'wires'), manufactures steel wire products for the industrial, civil, construction, and agricultural sectors of the kingdom. Itwas initially formed as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) in 1990, under the name of Gulf Wires. The company underwent its first merger in 2006 and its name was changed to United Wire Factories Company or ASLAK,in which a number of wire companies came together under one umbrella. In 2008, the company was converted from being a LLC into a closed joint stock entity. ASLAK now functions as a publicly listed company, operating throughout Saudi Arabia, serving both national and international clients. ASLAK aims to become a pioneer in the wire manufacturing industry. The company is engaged in the production of nails, fences, wire meshes, block ladder meshes, and steel rebar, as well as tying, concertina, and barbed wires for use in the construction and building materials sector. The company also produces annealed black wires, staples and clips, cloth hangers, bailing wires, and welded wires mesh sheets and rolls for use in civil sector; and PVC coated, deformed, galvanized, and black drawn wires for use in industrial products. As a major steel wire drawing company, the company is highly equipped with the latest modern facilities for various steel wires drawing processes. ASLAK encourages confidence between the company's employees and its clients. The company has set up an Audit Committee, The Nomination and Remuneration Committee, as well as The Executive Committee. The company's Board of Directors comprise of 7 members.
