Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC), established in 1990 with a 20% government and 80% private equity split, was founded to encourage private sector participation in Qatar's economic development by investing in small and medium-scale industries. Starting with an authorized capital of 200 million QR (US$ 55 million), fully paid by 2002, the company has since increased its capital multiple times, reaching 475.2 million QR by 2014. The number of shares was later adjusted in 2019 to 475,200,000 with a nominal value of QR 1 each.
QIMC quickly became a leader in small and medium-scale industries in Qatar and extended its activities to other GCC countries, like Oman. With equity interests in 20 operational projects across diverse sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, construction materials, and food processing, QIMC continues to explore new projects' economic feasibility in collaboration with local and foreign partners.
Driven by a strategy of investing in economically viable industrial projects using locally/regionally available resources, QIMC aims to maximize macroeconomic benefits such as employment opportunities, technology transfer, and contributing to Qatar's balance of trade. The company welcomes joint venture proposals from investors and technology holders for medium-sized projects.
