Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) is a major public transportation provider in Saudi Arabia. Established in 1979, SAPTCO has played a crucial role in developing the public transport infrastructure in the Kingdom. The principal activities of the company and its subsidiaries are passenger's buses transport both intra and inter-city, throughout and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as transfer of non-postal parcels, cargo, school transport, teachers transport, car rental and private transport, operating and maintaining of trains, metros, motor vehicles and trucks, organizing tours, transporting pilgrims and visitors inside and outside of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and importing spare parts and chemical detergents of vehicles. SAPTCO was established to provide reliable and efficient public transportation services across Saudi Arabia. Over the years, it has expanded its operations to include urban buses in major cities like Riyadh, Jeddah, and Mecca, as well as intercity and international routes. In 2007, SAPTCO launched the Riyadh Bus Project, a significant step towards modernizing urban transport. In 2014, SAPTCO signed a contract with the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu to operate public transport services in Jubail Industrial City. And in 2019, it introduced the Haramain High-Speed Railway bus service, connecting passengers to the high-speed train network. SAPTCO offers a wide range of services, including Urban Bus Services, Intercity Bus Services, International Bus Services, and Specialized Services (Including VIP and express bus services, as well as transportation for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims). SAPTCO continues to innovate and expand its services. Recently, the company announced a partnership with the Royal Commission for Al Ula to provide public transport services in the region. Additionally, SAPTCO is actively involved in the development of the Riyadh Metro project, which aims to transform urban mobility in the capital city.
